Meher Baba first lit the Dhuni (a word that literally means “fire”) in the dhuni-urn at Lower Meherabad on 10 November, 1925, at 11 pm. He gave instructions that is should continue to be lit on the 12th of every month. For pilgrims today, the Dhuni provides a special occasion for surrender and rededication to God.
