In May of each year since 2000, the Avatar Meher Baba Perpetual Public Charitable Trust has published a Financial Report detailing its income and expenditures for the preceding tax year (which runs from 1 April through 31 March).
The Trust is a perpetual public charitable trust registered in India under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950; under section 12-A of the Income Tax Act, 1961; and under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976. Indian donors are eligible for tax deductions under section 80-G of the Income Tax Act. A law firm in Connecticut with a specialization in non-American public charities and American tax law, has put on file a letter affirming that the Avatar Meher Baba P.P.C. Trust is the equivalent
of an American public charity.
